I am continuously fighting germs it seems. First one child gets ill then the next. I honestly try to crank up their little immune systems with vitamin c and, as best I can, with healthy food.
The uphill battle I seem to face is a lack of hygiene when they are away from home and in the care of their schools.
I understand lack of funding and so many issues our public schools face, but seriously, simple hand soap?!?
My kids tell me there isn't any in the bathrooms. I said there must be hand cleaner somewhere? They say no.
I honestly don't understand when hand soap and hand sanitizer was on their school supply shopping list.
Assuming every student brought their school supplies, there should be more than enough hand soap for the entire school. So where did it go? And why is there no soap in the bathrooms?
Flu, colds, pink eye and I don't even want to consider the horrors of hepatitis! And worse, my son says some kids don't even wash their hands! Ewwwww!!! My inner girl is screaming germy coodies!
I have so much respect for our teachers and schools, we can't let our teachers get sick to.
Solutions?!? I have no idea where to even start, except to insist my kids keep hand sanitizer with them at all times.
I don't remember having these kinds of issues when I was a kid at school. Yes, broken bathrooms, which is still an issue. I won't even tell you how much my older son complains that bathrooms are often closed and there are no available facilities at all.
It's a basic need. We all need bathrooms, we all need clean water, and please can we have hand soap in the bathrooms. And for those kids that don't wash their hands, I hope they don't spread illness in their own families.
Wishing you and your family to be healthy always.
Love and Aloha,
