Me ke aloha pumehana

A day to recharge my spirit. Morning walk on the beach, quick swim in the beautiful ocean. All before breakfast.

I always take one day of the week just for me. If I don't, let's just say the crazy girl who feels under appreciated and maybe depressed sneaks out and I may lose all self control around chocolate ;) lol

Rest, recharge, restore your balance. Your health depends on your peace of mind, your body depends on your will power. So many things you need to do to be the best you, simply start with a moment of peace for yourself.

You have my permission. Please take it and run with it.

Love always,
Maile

Food journaling doubles weight loss!

Weight loss is almost guaranteed if you simply write down what you eat.

"Keeping a food diary can double a person's weight loss according to a study from Kaiser Permanente's Center for Health Research. The findings, from one of the largest and longest running weight loss maintenance trials ever conducted."

It makes sense that if you are aware of everything that goes into your body, you will feed it better, and consume fewer calories. The effort of having to write it down may also make you eat less.

I love books, and journals. Something wonderful and almost nostalgic about writing in a book.

I also use my phone notes app. I always have my phone.
When I can't write, usually because I am probably having a meal with others, and its not nice to have my nose buried in my phone or writing in my journal when I want to spend time with my friend(s), I will snap a photo.

Share it! People love food photos and if you snap a photo and go, so far as to, share everything you eat publicly to your social network, it's like journaling with everyone. They will help you be accountable to your goals.

There is a #tweetmyweight that many also find fascinating. It sends your weight out into the world wide web and makes you feel even more responsible as the world is now watching what you are doing.

Everyone is different and you need to find what will work for you and your lifestyle.

Don't make it a chore! Make it fun or you won't do it. If I have learned anything in this life, it's that, if I'm not going to enjoy doing something, then I'm not going to do it.

Life is short, time is precious. I love my life and am grateful for every opportunity that will make me a better and healthier individual.

I want to do so many things in my life and I can't be wasting time doing something I don't care about. I love my family and friends and because I want to spend wonderful moments with them, I will take care of my body and my health.

I do it for me and the people I care about and that is why I have succeeded!

Wishing you a beautiful day and amazing success to achieving all your goals and dreams.

Love and Aloha,
Maile

Mini Workouts!

Break up your workouts into shorter sessions. I don't always have the luxury to spend 2 or more hours working out. I often have appointments and day to day activities that require more of my time and attention. On those days, I still get my 2 hour workout, but I break it up throughout my day.

Its also great if you are starting a new fitness routine. You want to introduce any new activity to your body gradually or you may get hurt and refuse to try it again.

In the morning after the kids leave for school, I usually have a good 15min. to 45min.(if I'm lucky) to squeeze in a decent workout. I will repeat 2 more mini workouts in the afternoon and again before bedtime. This way I get my workout done for the day and I feel great.

It takes 90 days to make any habit a part of your daily routine. Just like not brushing your teeth or taking a shower, you will start to feel out of sorts if you don't exercise your body.

Don't give up! There aren't really rules to exercise, just move your body! Take a few minutes just for you and get your body healthy. We all have fifteen minutes we can spare at some point in the day. You deserve to treat your body good, only you can take care of you.

Love your body, and it will make your life even better. I promise.

Love you all,
Maile

Sweet Dreams Everyone ;)

Dreamtime ♥
This morning my lovely friend called me and asked what I was doing today. I said, I locked my bedroom door and crawled back into bed with my newest book. I've earned a day of rest after a long week and daily exercise.

Truthfully, the best thing you can do for your body and your health is to get a good night's sleep. Some days you work your body hard and some days you need to rest! To keep your body strong, you need to give your muscles time to heal and recover.

I'm looking forward to dream time and recharging my body for the week ahead.

I love my beauty sleep!

Sweet Dreams Everyone.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and getting active and playing. Weekends are a great time to get the whole family out and exercising, I mean playing ;)

Today we ventured out for fun at the beach. Swimming, running in the ocean, and an easy game of tossing the football and keep away. It never for one moment felt like exercise, just a day of fun.

Be a kid again, and if you forgot how, find some to play with. Sadly kids now days are spending to much time on electronic gadgets and have no idea what fun awaits them in our great outdoors!

My kids are as smart as Apple Genius Bar techs but I would rather they spent more time on their bikes and skateboards.

There's one more free day of playtime! I'm turning my garage into a roller rink, weatherman said it might rain.

Happy weekend friends.

Maile

Be a kid again and go play!

Happy Aloha Friday and the weekend! I'm so excited about not having to wake up at 6:30am and getting to sleep in.  Sleeping is my favorite indulgence, yes even better than chocolate which is a very close second!

The weekend IS HERE! Time to spend with family and friend's, which for my family, usually revolves around delicious meals and yummy treats. Living life on a diet is no fun when you want to enjoy life's fabulous moments…so my best advice, is go ahead, enjoy it, but just balance what you put into your body with exercise. You knew it was coming. I had to talk about the "E" Word!

Exercise can be fun! I promise! Go play! Be a kid again and have fun! Last week I was brave enough to lace up my roller skates and play with my family. It was fun and a great workout. If you don't make exercise fun, you won't do it. You don't have to run on a treadmill for an hour or bike for miles to lose weight. Just live your life in balance and remind your body of playtime and do activities that you enjoy. If its walking, go someplace that will keep you moving.

I love walking on the beach, especially in the cool morning hours. I love hiking and exploring my beautiful island home. I also love walking and window shopping at the mall, just need to stay away from the tempting foods and drinks if I'm going to be to lazy and not exercise it off. Everything is a trade off. Just like you exchange money for goods and services, you have to trade exercise for food. It's all energy. Treat your body like an incredible machine and it will perform at its optimal best. I treat my body like an expensive italian sports car and feed it the best food and nutrients to keep me feeling great. I would never put cheap fuel in a ferrari.

Your body is valuable and priceless, treat it with love. We only get one body for this life, so feed it well and keep it running at its optimum best. And have fun! The best part of having a beautiful body is getting to play and show it off. Enjoy every moment!

Love and gratitude for my health and yours.
Aloha,
Maile

Sweet Weight Loss Tip

While I wait for my cinnamon and hot water to steep for thirty minutes, I thought I would share a common easy weight loss tip.

Cinnamon and Honey. Preferably raw, unpasturized honey. Please support local honey farmers always, they make the best!

Cinnamon and Honey formula for weight loss:

This should be prepared at night before going to bed.

1. Use 1 part cinnamon to 2 parts raw honey. 1/2 tsp cinnamon to 1 tsp honey is recommended but can use more or less as long as in the ratio of 1 to 2. Example: 1 tsp cinnamon to 2 tsp raw honey is also fine.

2. Boil 1 cup (8 oz.) of water.

3. Pour water over cinnamon, cover and let it steep for 30 minutes.

4. Add honey after liquid has cooled. Never add honey when it is hot as the heat will destroy the enzymes and other nutrients in the raw honey.

5. Drink 1/2 of this drink directly before going to bed. Save the other 1/2 for the next morning, cover it and refrigerate overnight.

6. In the morning drink the other half, but do not re-heat it. Drink it cold or at room temperature only.

Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar, or tea. It is not necessary to drink it more times in a day. It is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.

This works for most people. Inches are usually lost before you see pounds lost on the scale. This usually will cause significant inches lost, but you may reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. This is because the cinnamon and honey cause a cleansing effect in the digestive tract and cleaning out parasites and other fungus and bacteria that slow down the digestion, which may have been causing a toxic build up and Lower pH levels.

If you experience any uncomfortable side effects cut back on how much you use or stop taking it temporarily.

Additionally people report increased energy, more sex drive, and feeling happier, and better mood.

Great news is you probably already have cinnamon and honey in your pantry and you can start tonight before bed.

Let me know if you have any great results. So far, I feel happier, and I do see the scale move down. That could also be why I am happier ;)

Give it a try, if anything your body will get a nice gentle cleansing.

Wishing you great success in your life.

Love Always,
Maile

Aloha

I have too many people asking me how I lost weight, how i look so young, and how they can do it to.

I needed to focus my posts and concentrate on one topic at a time. This page will be more focused on achieving optimal health and maintaining it.

Life is great when you can enjoy it, and you can't go out and have fun if you aren't feeling your best. My personal obstacles of overcoming "post-partum depression and just depression and that feeling of being lost, and what am I supposed to do with my life," caused a lot of damage to my body.

I thought being a mom and having kids would somehow make me feel whole or more complete. It actually left me feeling confused. And although, I loved my children, I didn't know that I was depressed and certainly didn't want anyone telling me I was.

Rediscovering myself and living for me, and not living at the whims of life, or my children's lives, made me a better mom and a healthier and stronger individual. I found my voice, my purpose! I love helping others! I love living in my present moments and look forward to an amazing future. I know that being healthy is a lifelong journey that I happily live everyday, not just for me, but I live it for everyone I love. I will be around for them and be an active part of their life and not just an observer.

Live each moment, life is precious and with your best health, you can make it a life worth living!

I love you all for your support, friendship, and love.

Me ke aloha pumehana,
Maile
